Director of Performance Improvement

Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home


Exciting opportunity to become the Director of Performance Improvement at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home. Seeking a knowledgeable, experienced and skilled individual who will lead the organization’s initiatives in clinical quality, patient safety and value based performance. Work collaboratively with hospital leadership, management, front line staff and medical staff to shape and implement organizational strategies that continuously improve the quality and safety of patient care. Reports to the VPMA / Chief Medical Officer.

The Director of Performance Improvement leads the organization’s:

  • Performance Improvement Program
  • Risk Management Program
  • Patient Safety Program
  • Preparedness and compliance with external accreditation survey (DNV)
  • Regulatory compliance activities
  • Incident reporting and complaints process

The successful candidate will possess: Bottom of Form

  • An undergraduate degree in a clinical field (graduate degree preferred). 
  • Experience in clinical performance improvement, risk management, patient safety principles and methodologies, and quality outcomes measurement and reporting. 
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience and progressive responsibility in health care leadership, including change management and leading multi-stakeholder improvement initiatives. 
  • Superb project management and organization skills. 
  • An ability to set priorities and handle multiple, sometime competing, tasks and projects.
  • An ability to lead staff to work independently and effectively to produce desired results, sometimes in a compressed timeframe.
  • Experience conducting training / education in health care settings. 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking. Engages directly, openly and honestly; willing to listen, teach and learn. 
  • Strong customer service skills for both internal and external customers. 
  • Familiarity with NYSDOH regulations and CMS (NIAHO) Conditions of Participation.

Prefer:

  • Direct clinical practice experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Advanced skills in group facilitation, team building and conflict resolution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Meditech EHR.
  • Experience with DNV accreditation process and ISO 9000 standards.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
